About Us

The mission of Retired Americans PAC and our affiliated organization, Retired Democrats 2026, is to elect candidates who will bolster retirement security. We support candidates who will protect the benefits older Americans have earned, and defeat those whose positions would harm older Americans’ health and economic security. We have a strong track record of successful independent expenditure campaigns that educate and mobilize older voters.

OUR 2026 PLAN

We stand ready to invest millions of dollars on independent expenditure campaigns in key races this election.

We’re going to fight to elect candidates who are committed to strengthening Medicare and Social Security, lowering prescription drug prices, and protecting Medicaid.

OUR TRACK RECORD:

2024

At the national level, older voters were the only age group that voted in higher percentages for Democrats in 2024 compared to 2020, with 49% supporting Kamala Harris and 50% supporting Donald Trump. In fact, 2024 was the strongest performance for Democrats over the age of 65 since the Kerry-Edwards ticket in 2004.

In the three states where Retired Americans PAC ran independent expenditure digital ad campaigns in the presidential race – Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin – voters over the age of 65 increased their vote share for the Democratic presidential candidate between 2020 to 2024.

Our ads were aimed solely at persuadable older voters and focused on the issues most important to them – Social Security, Medicare, and prescription drug prices.

Michigan Senate

Retired Americans PAC invested $4 million in digital and radio ads in key races across the country, targeting older voters who made up 28% of the 2024 electorate, according to exit polls.

Our largest campaign was in the 2024 Michigan Senate race. We drew attention to Republican candidate Mike Rogers’ record of accepting hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign contributions from pharmaceutical corporations while voting against lower drug prices for seniors in a statewide ad that ran for several weeks. The ad was shown only to persuadable older voters. Democrat Elissa Slotkin was elected to the open seat by less than 1%; she won the senior vote 52-47%.

Battleground Presidential Race

Retirees were featured in a digital television ad that was shown in Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin to advocate for Kamala Harris over Donald Trump. In the ad, Alliance for Retired Americans members spoke about Trump’s tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans and the loss of manufacturing jobs when he was president, compared to Harris’ plans to take on wealthy corporations and lower drug costs for people like them.

We ran a second digital ad campaign aimed at older voters in Pennsylvania highlighting the risk to Social Security under a Trump presidency.

According to exit polls, more older voters supported the Democratic presidential candidate in 2024 than in 2020, reinforcing the importance of our work.

2023

Debt Ceiling Campaign

Retired Americans PAC conducted an independent expenditure advertising campaign to increase pressure on key House Republicans to vote for a debt ceiling increase and prevent the nation from going into default.

A default would have been devastating for retirees who live on fixed incomes or whose savings are affected by the financial markets. Benefit payments, including Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, would have been disrupted. Other government programs, including nutrition assistance and the VA health system, would have run out of money.

The digital ads ran in 10 congressional districts and Washington, DC. They warned of the threat to Social Security payments if the debt ceiling were not raised and urged constituents to call their representatives to demand action.

2022 Midterms

Retired Americans PAC conducted independent expenditure advertising campaigns in five states. These included digital video and display ads targeted to persuadable voters age 60+.

ARIZONA
U.S. SENATE

Digital video ads highlighting Blake Masters’ plan to privatize Social Security reached more than 115,000 persuadable and likely Democratic Arizona voters over the age of 60.

PENNSYLVANIA
U.S. SENATE

Digital video ads noting Mehmet Oz’s history of scams and phony medical cures reached 250,000 persuadable and likely Democratic Pennsylvania voters over the age of 60.

PA-7

In Pennsylvania’s 7th Congressional District, Republican candidate Lisa Scheller’s company closing a plant and the subsequent outsourcing of jobs to China were highlighted in digital video ads to voters in Carbon County.

WISCONSIN, NEVADA, NEW HAMPSHIRE

Digital display ads pointing out Sen. Ron Johnson’s (WI), and candidates Adam Laxalt’s (NV), and Don Bolduc’s (NH) support for cutting and privatizing Social Security and Medicare ran on websites during October and November.

GEORGIA RUNOFF ELECTION

Ads emphasizing candidate Herschel Walker’s ties to Sens. Rick Scott (FL) and Lindsey Graham (SC) and their plans to cut Social Security and Medicare reached 150,000 older, likely Democratic voters.
