New Ad: Deb Fischer Voted to Raise the Retirement Age and Cut Medicare, Dan Osborn Will Fight for Seniors
October 21, 2024Pennsylvania – A new digital television ad asks older voters if electing Donald Trump is worth losing 33% of the Social Security benefits they paid for over a lifetime of work. The ad was released today by Retired Americans PAC, the Alliance for Retired Americans independent expenditure political action committee, and will air in the battleground state of Pennsylvania through Election Day.
The ad, called “It’s Yours,” highlights the conclusion of a conservative think tank report released Monday showing that Trump’s tax and budget proposals would cost the average worker $629 a month in lost benefits. Trump’s plans would drain $2.3 trillion from the Social Security Trust Fund over the next 10 years, meaning current and future Social Security beneficiaries would face a 33% automatic cut in the benefits they earned starting in 2035.
“Donald Trump has talked about cutting Social Security for years and promises to double down on tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans and corporations,“ said Richard Fiesta, an expert on retirement security issues and Treasurer of Retired Americans PAC. “Americans of all ages will pay dearly if he is elected. Our ad asks voters to consider whether they can afford to lose 33% of the benefits they have worked a lifetime to earn.”
“To ensure Social Security is there for current and future generations, seniors need to elect Kamala Harris and reject Trump’s dangerous schemes,” Fiesta added.
The 30-second ad is paid for by Retired Americans PAC. The script is below.
In addition to “It’s Yours,” Retired Americans PAC is currently running independent expenditure ad campaigns in the Michigan, Montana and Nebraska Senate races and five battleground House races: AZ-01, AZ-06, MI-07, PA-07, and PA-10.
Retired Americans PAC works to elect candidates who are committed to strengthening retirement security, protecting the interests of older Americans and defeating those who have taken positions that would harm older Americans.
