New Digital Ad: Unlike Ryan MacKenzie, Representative Susan Wild Stands Up for Seniors
September 26, 2024New Digital Ad: Tom Barrett Supports Project 2025, Cutting Social Security and Medicare
September 26, 2024York, PA – A new digital ad launched today across Pennsylvania’s 10th Congressional District draws attention to GOP Rep. Scott Perry’s support for privatizing Social Security, repealing the requirement that Medicare negotiate lower drug prices and raising the retirement age. Perry’s opponent in the November 5th election is Janelle Stelson.
The 30-second ad notes that Perry claims, “No Republican is talking about cutting seniors’ benefits.” However, that claim is untrue. The House GOP Budget Blueprint calls for raising the retirement age and privatizing Medicare, and Perry repeatedly voted against allowing Medicare to negotiate lower prescription drug prices for seniors.
More than 28% of registered voters in PA-10 are 65 years of age or older. The 30-second spot, paid for by Retired Americans PAC, will be shown to older voters throughout the district.
“Rep. Perry has a dismal record on seniors issues. He has supported privatizing Social Security and raising the retirement age,” said Richard Fiesta, an expert on retirement security issues and Treasurer of Retired Americans PAC. “He has also opposed legislation to lower drug costs by requiring Medicare to negotiate lower drug prices for seniors; cap out-of-pocket drug costs at $2,000 a year; cap insulin copays at $35 per month; and make necessary vaccines free for all Medicare beneficiaries.”
“Older voters will play a critical role in this election,” added Fiesta. “They need to know the facts so they can choose the candidate who will protect their interests.”
In addition to the ad running in PA-10, Retired Americans PAC is currently running independent expenditure campaigns in PA-7, AZ-01, AZ-06, and MI-07.
Retired Americans PAC is the independent political arm of the Alliance for Retired Americans. Retired Americans PAC works to elect candidates who are committed to strengthening retirement security, protecting the interests of older Americans and defeating those who have taken positions that would harm older Americans.
