New Digital Ad: Representative Juan Ciscomani Wants to Cut Seniors’ Benefits – He Just Won’t Admit It

Tucson, AZ – A new digital ad launched today across Arizona’s 6th Congressional District draws attention to GOP Rep. Juan Ciscomani’s support for cutting Social Security and Medicare and repealing the law that requires Medicare to negotiate lower drug prices.

The ad notes that Ciscomani has taken more than $250,000 from the insurance industry and big Pharma. Ciscomani also wants to repeal the Affordable Care Act, eliminating guaranteed coverage for pre-existing conditions. Ciscomani’s opponent in the November 5th election is Democrat Kirsten Engel.

More than 34% of registered voters in AZ-06 are 65 years of age or older. The 30-second spot, paid for by Retired Americans PAC, will be shown to older voters throughout the district.

“Rep. Ciscomani has a poor record on seniors’ issues. He has supported cutting both Social Security and Medicare,” said Richard Fiesta, an expert on retirement security issues and Treasurer of Retired Americans PAC. “He also opposed legislation to lower drug costs by requiring Medicare to negotiate lower drug prices for seniors; cap out-of-pocket drug costs at $2,000 a year; cap insulin copays at $35 per month; and make necessary vaccines free for all Medicare beneficiaries.”

“Older voters will play a critical role in this election,” added Fiesta. “They need to know the facts so they can choose the candidate who will protect their interests.”

In addition to the ad running in AZ-06, Retired Americans PAC is currently running independent expenditure campaigns in four other battleground Congressional districts: AZ-01, MI-07, PA-7, PA-10.

Retired Americans PAC is the independent political arm of the Alliance for Retired Americans. Retired Americans PAC works to elect candidates who are committed to strengthening retirement security, protecting the interests of older Americans and defeating those who have taken positions that would harm older Americans.

Below is a transcript of the ad, “Sold Out.”
