Scottsdale, AZ – A new digital ad launched today across Arizona’s 1st Congressional District draws attention to GOP Rep. David Schweikert’s support for cutting Social Security and raising the retirement age. Schweikert’s opponent in the November 5th election is Democrat Dr. Amish Shah.

More than 28% of registered voters in AZ-06 are 65 years of age or older. The 30-second spot, paid for by Retired Americans PAC, will be shown to older voters throughout the district.

“Rep. Schweikert has a horrible record on seniors’ issues. He has voted to slash Social Security and impose deep cuts in Medicare,” said Richard Fiesta, an expert on retirement security issues and Treasurer of Retired Americans PAC. “He is a member of the House Republican Study Committee that wants to raise the retirement age at which Americans can receive full Social Security benefits to 69. This amounts to a 13% cut in benefits for future beneficiaries.”

“Older voters will play a critical role in this election,” added Fiesta. “They need to know the facts so they can choose the candidate who will protect their interests.”

In addition to the ad running in AZ-01, Retired Americans PAC is currently running independent expenditure campaigns in four other battleground Congressional districts, including AZ-06, MI-07, PA-7, and PA-10.
